The WOW Foundation has undertaken the training of six people in digital technology, internet skills and computer animation, this has consituted a key element of our formative phase, and as comprised of a combination of one to one tuition, and apprenticeship to our commercial wing, The WOW Effect.

During our development, we have formed a strong alliance with a number of organisations ranging from training facilities and networks, production and animation companies, computer games companies and multi-media / internet developers and facilities. We are currently in the process of initiating the first stages of the development of our training and apprenticeship program. This will encompass one to one training on a fee paying basis, production apprenticeship and scholarships from The WOW Foundation. Training will cover a broad range of skills, from paint, drawing and 2d graphics packages through to internet skills from HTML, VRML, Webmagic and Cosmo and on to powerful Silicon Graphics based 2 & 3D animation and graphics packages such as Alias/Wavefront and Softimage.

Alongside this, we aim to pioneer a completely new form of training method, 'Production Apprenticeship', giving students the opportunity for the first time to learn and hone their skills alongside working professionals in a real production environment. To this end we are developing close links with Berkeley Contemporary Opera who have developed an approach very similar to ours on the U.S. West Coast.

Synergistic with the last statement, the WOW Foundation will endevour to provide scholarships and core funding for the apprenticeship process. This will provide technical support and equipment as well as retainer style wages for apprenticeships, these funds will be supplemented by a project by project bonus scheme in conjuction with The WOW Effect, our commercial arm. Commercial Training Apprenticeship Scholarships.
